The fact is, hair loss happens. To both men and women. The question is, what can you do about it? Well, several things! Your hair may be gradually thinning or you could be experiencing substantial hair loss at an alarming rate. Either way, you’ve come to this web page because you are concerned and want to discover your options. The good news is, we are here to help you keep the hair you have and prevent further hair loss, and possibly generating new hair. Every client is different and there are many factors that must be examined.
Most clients are experiencing pattern hair loss, the most common kind. Hair grows from the follicle, which is the base of the hair strand. The root resides in the hair follicle and it gets nourishment from your blood. Your hair has an active growing stage that lasts from 2 to 6 years. There is also a brief intermediate stage where the hair stops growing. In the last stage, the hair “dies” and is pushed out by a new hair coming in. These are the hairs that fall out – the hairs you find in your comb and brush. As you age, fewer and fewer hairs are in the growth stage and eventually, new growth is greatly reduced or stops altogether.
Fortunately for those struggling with male pattern hair loss or female pattern hair loss, hair restoration has made great strides in the past few years. At BodyViveMD, we are able to utilize a noninvasive approach to maintaining and restoring your hair. You have probably seen people who have received hair transplants, or ‘plugs’ as they are often called. It is usually easy to tell when someone has had these hairs put in and not exactly an ideal solution.
Dr. Lai restores your hair using PRP therapy. This is discussed elsewhere on our site as well, and is used in many different applications. When it comes to hair loss, we inject platelet rich plasma — your own blood plasma — into your scalp using very tiny needles. It is not painful. The growth factors in your blood stimulate cell growth and so new hair growth is the result. This therapy is used for both men and women. The procedure is reliable and safe, and there is no down time. It takes one hour to 90 minutes for your injections but you will need several sessions in order to achieve good results. We may also recommend certain supplements and/or dietary guides (nutrition) to support your hair growth program.
PRP injections can be an uncomfortable procedure for some people, and we do offer topical anesthetic or general anesthesia. This can be discussed when you review your hair loss therapy with Dr. Lai. You can find out if you are a candidate for PRP hair regrowth therapy with an initial visit to our center. More and more support for platelet rich plasma treatments is developing every day and this could be the solution you have been seeking. We look forward to speaking with you and giving you the natural, attractive hair that you deserve to have.
