Obesity in America has reached epidemic proportions. Although the standard American diet and the increasingly sedentary lifestyle of many Americans has contributed in a major way, hormones can also play a part in obesity. The hormonal changes that accompany menopause and andropause can affect appetite and metabolism. One possible outcome is increased hunger, which can lead to weight gain and, eventually, obesity.
